A good friend of mine is making an explosion in the little world of event photography in New Zealand. She is very skilled with timing, lighting and movement and seems to capture that elusive ‘wow’ moment that makes for a beautiful fluid shot. She comes from a musician background, and musicians are her forte.
Oh, and she can cover all the other photography genres too!
She began her photography life as Claire Gordon, but wanted something a bit more… well, ‘flash’, and it was a mutual friend who decided that she was to be ‘Flash Gordon’. What a great name for a photographer!
I played with a shutter design that she liked. By removing one of the petals, there appeared a reverse koru (a spiral based on a new unfurling silver fern frond and the Maori symbol for new life, growth, strength and peace). I added a rainbow of colours, but we also decided on a one colour version (a lot cheaper for screenprinting and embroidery, and the koru stands out even more.
Flash Gordon actually uses the one colour logo more than the rainbow one.
